About Harbour Queen Ferry
Harbour Queen Ferry Services was established in 1970. It is owned and operated by Glengarriff and Garnish Island Boat Services Ltd and is the longest operating ferry company in Glengarriff.
Our fleet of ferries includes 3 purpose built enclosed water buses which are licensed to carry 45, 50 and 52 passengers.
The vessels are fully licensed and inspected annually by the Department of the Marine. Our skippers and crew are all experienced professionals who have had comprehensive safety training courses. The largest vessel in the Fleet “Harbour Queen III” is wheelchair accessible with a custom built ramp.
Operating daily from 1 April to October 31 to the world renowned Garnish Island, situated in the sheltered harbour of Glengarriff in Bantry Bay, a personalised service is provided to both private and group parties. Competitive rates are available to larger groups and we have reduced rates for students and OAP’s.
The scheduled service departs at 30 minute intervals, however as restrictions ease special times can be arranged for coach groups and/or private parties. The spectacular trip to the Italian gardens at Garnish Island takes in such sights as Glengarriff Castle and the home of actress Maureen O’Hara. An extended stop at Seal Island is also included in the trip as an extra bonus for those who would like to photograph these mammals in their natural habitat.
Tours can be tailored to take in the inner reaches of Bantry Bay if desired.
